Mulranny Beach

Mulranny Beach is a sandy beach located southwest of Mulranny village in County Mayo. The beach consists of a long expansive stretch of sand, backed by pebbles and boulders. From Mulranny Beach there are glorious views across the sheltered waters of Clew Bay and the mountains beyond.
Mulranny Beach is approximately 30km from Westport, and is a popular beach for relaxing, swimming, walking, windsurfing and kayaking. Enjoy magical views across Clew Bay towards Clare Island. The machair sand plains and saltmarsh of Mulranny Beach are of scientific interest and the area is rich in flora, fauna and birdlife. Some of the more common birds that can be seen at the beach include, waders, terns and gulls.Mulranny’s Blue Flag beach is directly accessible via the causeway and has lifeguards on duty from June to August every summer as well as on site toilet facilities. There is an access ramp to Mulranny Beach, however there are no disabled toilet facilities at present. More information can be found on the notice board located at the beach.The Great Western Greenway visits the picturesque village of Mulranny. It also passes by some of Ireland’s most dramatic mountains and offers magnificent views of Clew Bay and its many islands.
